Catherine and Bruno Lefebvre Designers, Agence C+B LEFEBVRE :
At a time when lots of products are only designed to suit market research surveys, this pair upholds a very particular approach to its profession. They draw their inspiration largely from the landscape and the people they meet. They have developed their own methodology, which they have dubbed “agile design”. Whatever area they’re working in, during the first phase of their projects they always immerse themselves in a business, so that they get a truly comprehensive view of the issues they need to solve. When they directly observe everyone involved in a piece of work (users and customer, staff, management and so on) and pose relevant questions, new ideas and solutions start to materialise. There’s nothing gratuitous about their approach to their work, in distinction from the clownish aesthetics that the word “design” too often represents in the collective unconscious.
For a number of years, C+B Lefebvre has conducted product and strategic design research in a wide variety of fields, from furniture to new energy and home and kitchenware.
Catherine is an architect with a degree from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Grenoble. She was design manager for Skis Rossignol SA,
and has developed lots of products in China, Thailand and Taiwan.
She regularly leads workshops at ENSAG.
She also lends her expertise to space design and decoration.
Bruno is a doubly-qualified designer. He has worked with Patrick Bouchain at the Ateliers de Création Industrielle (ENSCI) and at Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD) with Roger Tallon. He was an assistant to Philippe Starck before becoming a design manager at a major French company, and is also vice-chair of the Alliance Française des Designers as well as an administrator at Designers +.
Aviso was born out of a concerted effort to observe and question how bathroom furniture is really used.
This collection has been designed, first and foremost, in response to how we use bathroom furniture today, and it unites structure and functionality with sober, elegant style. This duality makes items particularly adaptable to different spatial configurations, without reducing any of their storage capabilities. Aviso embeds lots of simple, practical storage space into its solutions.
When used as a set, it forms notably streamlined compositions and, because handholds are integrated into the sides of each item, its silhouettes are impeccably sleek. Aviso is enhanced by Ambiance Bain’s wide range of finishes: facades’ matte look teams perfectly with the satiny metal of the handholds..
