Le Lit National is not just a century-old business, it’s a living part of France’s heritage. This specialist maker of outstanding and unique luxury bedding, bed frames and haute-couture mattresses creates all its pieces entirely by hand using expert skills that date back to 1920.
Bina Baitel graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette in 2002. She founded her studio as a multi-disciplinary artist in 2006 so that she could develop projects in everything from art and design to set design and architecture. She works collaboratively with design retailers, luxury brands and art galleries. She won a place on VIA’s project support scheme for her Pull-Over light in 2008, and then again in 2015 for Recto-Verso, a flexible light that uses new OLED technology.
Le Lit National has teamed up with Bina Baitel so that the artist can infuse the brand with a new élan, developing the way beds can be used using artisanal tools and innovative approaches. Bina Baitel was inspired by the world of jewellery-making to create a decorative furniture collection with a haute-couture look. She has called this range PRÉMONITIONS. As an ensemble, it expresses itself most eloquently by setting a combination of fabric and marble within a fine brass framework. This artistically styled collection has a refined, luxurious look that encapsulates Le Lit National’s outstanding skills.
