John Thackwray is a French photographer and director. In 2010, he launched the project “My Room: Portrait of a generation”. The concept is simple: photographing young people in their bedrooms and asking them about the state of the world. More than 1,000 candidates from 55 countries born in the 1980s and ’90’s took part. From New York to Tokyo, Cairo to Moscow, John travels the world to document his fellow millennials.
Sensitive to his approach, the Gautier team offered him the chance to lay the foundations of the “Tribe” project: to recreate the Gautier world tribe and meet almost 5 million young people who sleep or have slept in a bedroom by the French furniture manufacturer.
The fascinating journey of “Tribe by Gautier” involves finding out more about them, their world, their culture… through a single location: their bedrooms.
